Our Story

Doorman+ was established in 2013 in response to the Christchurch earthquakes as part of the cities post disaster recovery to help with major issue of construction and demolition waste.

In 2013, Nick (who will become one of the founding members of the company) was working as a carpenter on a residential building site and noticed the house next door was being prepared for demolition for the following day. It was apparent nothing was going to be saved before the demolition. An idea of saving some of its joinery came to mind and was implemented. Overnight all the doors and windows were cut out and transported off site and stored in the backyard of the Nicks family house. The core concept for Doorman+ was born. For the next four years the company worked out of a backyard in Edgeware. The operation was moved in 2018 to a warehouse in Saxon St, Christchurch.
